Facial Clefts
The craniofacial treatment team sees a large number of children with facial clefts. These children have difficulty with feeding and speech, and their appearance is often severely affected. The reconstruction of the bony and soft tissue is of primary importance, not just from the standpoint of functional disability, but also in view of the psychological trauma which such a defect can cause throughout life. Early repair of facial clefts is imperative for the health and emotional well-being of the child.
